How EPF Works

  • Employee Contribution: 12% of (Basic Salary + DA) goes to EPF
  • Employer Contribution: 12% of (Basic Salary + DA) split as:
    • 3.67% goes to EPF
    • 8.33% goes to Employee Pension Scheme (EPS)
  • Interest Rate: Government declares EPF interest rate annually (currently 8.25% for FY 2023-24)
  • Tax Benefits: Contributions eligible for tax deduction under Section 80C

  • TDS applicable on premature withdrawals (before 5 years)
